Ch.
Duchwood's Cornerstone MS
(Duchwood's Dillon MS x Duchwood's Willow MS [Ch. pts.]) This is our homebred Corrie, the first piebald dachshund bench champion in the world, all coats, all sizes, despite what others may claim. Her playful antics, and "the Corrie dance", have charmed audiences at dog shows everywhere. Her wonderful front and rear angulation, incredibly long ribbing and keel, and her fabulous movement have won her admirers from all over the world. Despite her flashy red piebald pattern, she is first and foremost, a very correct Dachshund. She won an Award of Merit at the 1998 Dachshund Club of America National Specialty Show, Best of Opposite Sex at the 1999 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden under breeder/judge Mr. Howard Atlee, and 2nd Veteran Bitch at DCA 2002. She and her grandson, Bryce, were Best Smooth Brace at DCA 2002. Her children are now winning in the show ring, too, and she has a dual champion daughter (see Jazz below). She weighs 10.5 lb., is 10 years old, and is retired from the whelping box and our house pet. Corrie's picture can be found in at least 5 popular books on dachshunds published worldwide. Corrie was BAER tested on 7/2/03 by Dr. George Strain, LSU - bilateral hearing perfect. |
Dual CH.
Duchwood's All That Jazz MS
(Duchwood's Outback Orion MS [Ch. pts.] x Ch. Duchwood's Cornerstone MS) Jazz is a clear red, 9 1/2 lb. homebred daughter of Ch. Corrie (see above). She is typey, sound, and a pretty mover. She won the Open Mini (Red) class at the 1999 Dachshund Club of America's National Specialty Show. Jazz has a good nose, too, and finished her field championship to become a dual champion! She carries the piebald gene recessively, but is now retired from the whelping box. |

Duchwood's
Pixie Princess MS, JE (Ch. pts., field ch. pts.)
(Nixons Albomaculatus Nanus x Duchwood's Pebblestone MS, ROMX [field pts.]) Princess (litter sister to Ch. Phoenix - see our Stud Dog page) is a very exuberant black/tan piebald who is a natural at den trials. She earned her Junior Earthdog title at the Dachshund Club of America's National Specialty Show in Wisconsin, April 2002. Along the way, she's picked up a major and some single ch. points as well as some field points. Her exquisite head, neck, and forechest are as near to perfection as one can get. She weighs 10 lb. and truly looks like a standard in miniature. She is now retired from the whelping box and is our house pet. Princess also makes a grand little Holstein dairy cow with her little pink udder, miniature cow bell, and horns! I was the Swiss dairy maid and we won the costume contest at the Dachshund Club of America's National Specialty show in April 2002! We have fun with our dachshunds at Duchwood! |
Dual Ch. Duchwood's
Page Two MS
(Nixons Albomaculatus Nanus x Duchwood's Pebblestone MS, ROMX) Paige is sister to Princess (above) and usually lives with her co-owners, Jan DuBois of Kinder Kennels, and Sandy Golemb of Rosan Hills Kennels, in Wisconsin. She became the first dual champion piebald in breed history on 1/5/03 by winning first place and Absolute at a field trial in MS!!! Paige is now retired and in a loving pet home in Wisconsin.. |

Dual
Ch. Kinder's
Magic Mirror MS
(DCH. Kinder's Klaus von Ludwig MS x FCh. Kinders Lone Magic Memory ME) Mira is an elegant, 11 lb., black and tan girl bred by, and co-owned with, Jan DuBois of Kinder Kennels. She is typey and sound with heavy bone. Her forechest, topline, and rear angulation are outstanding. Mira does not carry the piebald gene. She produced a champion son for us (Ch. Duchwood's Sure Thing MS) and we have her little daughter, Crystal (below), to follow in her footsteps. Mira is now retired from our breeding program and has been placed as a pet. |
|
Kinder's Heavenly
Star MS
(DCh. Kinder's Magic Sorcerer MS x FCh. Duchwood's Starlight MS) Skylar is a little 9 lb., black and tan love like her mom, Star (see below). We co-bred and co-own her, but she lives with her owner, Jan DuBois of Kinder Dachshunds, in Wisconsin. She's heavy-boned, low to the ground, with good ribbing, keel, and topline. She carries the piebald gene recessively. |

FCh.
Duchwood's Starlight MS, CGC
(Duchwood's Dust Bunny MS x Duchwood's Pebblestone MS, ROM [field pts.]) Star, a 10 lb., black and tan piebald, lives with her co-owner, Jan DuBois of Kinder Dachshunds in Wisconsin. She's a quiet little rug-rat in the house and hates the show ring, but becomes a dynamo in the field. She became the first piebald dachshund Field Champion in the world very quickly, and now has several Absolute wins to her credit. Star is very low to the ground, and has a beautiful head, forechest, and front assembly. We have a beautiful son from her - a black/tan piebald, Jedi, sired by Duchwood's Saber Blade MS. Star is now retired to a loving pet home in Wisconsin. |
CH. Duchwood's Nutmeg MS
(Am./Can./S.Afr. Ch. GrandGables Buffalo Bill x Dual Ch. Duchwood's All That Jazz MS) Meg finished her championship with a bang, winning a 5-pt. major in Alabama in Nov. 2002. She is now the 3rd champion produced by her mom, Jazz. Meg is a 9.5 lb. black/tan and very low-stationed. She has wonderful tight feet and heavy bone, and is a moving machine. She carries the piebald gene recessively. Her pups are gorgeous and she has produced 2 champion sons, 1 champion daugher, and 1 Canadian champion daughter. |
|
Duchwood's
Rubystone MS - Available as a pet -
ON HOLD
(Ch. Duchwood's Phoenix MS [field pts.] x Ch. Duchwood's Cornerstone MS) Ruby is a 9.65 lb. red piebald with excellent ribbing and keel, great front and rear angulation, rather light bone, scraggly toes, and a so-so head. She is 6 years old and not a show dog herself, but has turned out to be quite a producer of show pups. Her piebald son, Casper, from her first litter is nearly a finished champion, and 3 pups from her 2nd litter are show quality. Ruby is also a size reducer. She is now available to a loving pet home for $150. She's a great housedog but should not go to a home with children under age 10. |
|
Duchwood's
Lindy Star Sapphire MS
(Ch. Duchwood's Phoenix MS x Kinder's Heavenly Star MS) Lindy is a 10.75 lb. black and tan piebald who is a fabulous side mover. She has a lovely rear, so-so ribbing and keel, and a nice long upper arm, but could use more shoulder layback, better feet and bone, and more forechest. Because she's a piebald and therefore judged more harshly than her solid-colored counterparts, she has not been competitive in the show ring (a few reserves) but she's a wonderful mother and a good producer. Sons from her first 2 litters already have champion points. BAER tested 7/2/03 by Dr. George Strain, LSU - bilateral hearing perfect. |
|
Ch.
Applehil Count Your Blessings
(Ch. Apple Hill's Benediction x Ch. Apple Hill's Southern Cross) Cybil is a lovely, small, standard girl (19 lb.) who is near to perfection in conformation and temperament. She will be bred to our smallest miniature males to produce lovely minis with that "standard" look and we're hoping to breed her to our Ch. Phoenix who is a size increaser to establish a line of STANDARD PIEBALDS. We're greatful to the Hamiltons (Apple Hill) for letting us have her. Her daugther, MayLee out of her first litter out of Bryce (Ch. Duchwood's Red Alert MS) is outstanding and starting to win in the show ring. |
|
Ch.
Duchwood's After Dark MS
(Dual Ch. Duchwood's Big Black Wolf MS x Duchwood's Nutmeg MS) Afton is an elegant little 9.0 lb. girl with a fabulous front, long ribbing and keel, perfect topline, and lots of rear angles. She finished her championship in May 2003. We co-own her sister, Dacey (see below). Afton had a lovely litter of 5 for her first litter. Pedigree |
|
Duchwood's
Stepping Stone MS (ch. pts.)
(Ch. Crisscross' Startin A Riot MS x Ch. Duchwood's Cornerstone MS) Stephie has now matured enough to be shown and no longer holds her tail straight up. She's exquisite, with a near-perfect shoulder assembly, long ribbing and keel, and a nicely angulated rear. She's also very spoiled since she was the only survivor from her litter and was hand-raised. She recently free-whelped her 2nd litter of 4 pups out of Bryce. Stephie weighs 8.5 lb. CERF exam 7/25/04 - eyes clear. |
|
Dual
Ch. Duchwood's Beach Babe MS
(Ch. GrandGables's Blond Beach Boy MS x Duchwood's Pixie Princess MS, JE [ch. pts.]) Erin is very elegant, yet low stationed for her size (9.75 lb), and has gorgeous front and rear angles. Her head and topline are exquisite. She made the first cut in Best of Variety competition at the DCA National Specialty in Syracuse in May 2003. Erin finished her field championship 1/25/04 by taking 4th place in the Hempstead, TX field trial OAAB stake (32 entries). This was only her 4th field trial! She is now a dual champion! This is one serious bunny hunter. |
|
Duchwood's
Riverdance MS
(Duchwood's Welsh Warrior MS x DCH. Duchwood's All That Jazz MS) Danni is a long drink of water! She is finally maturing and weighs 11.4 lb. She's got lovely angles front and rear, a soft topline, incredible length of ribbing and keel, and a beautiful head. Her front feet are too flat. She was shown in 2004 but her topline has kept her from winning. She produces gorgeous pups, though (see Raven in males), so will find her niche as a mom. |
|
Ch.
Grandgables Justa GoGo Bean MS
(Can./SAfr. Ch. Garthorne Mr. Bean for GrandGables MS (UK import) x Grandgables Go Go Gabriella MS) GG is a totally adorable and very tiny, clear red girl bred by Grandgables Kennel in Canada. She is low-stationed, heavy-boned for her size (8.0 lb), and an incredible mover. Her little head with short ears is her only drawback. She had a hard time having her first litter of 2 out of Bryce, Ch. Duchwood's Red Alert MS, and had to have a c-section for her 2nd litter of 2 HUGE pups out of Casper, Ch. Duchwood's Cast In Stone. I just do not want females in my breeding program who cannot free-whelp, so GG was spayed and was placed in a loving pet/performance home. |
|
|
Duchwood's Morning Light MS (Can. Ch. pts.)
(FCh. Duchwood's Celtic Courage MS x Ch. Duchwood's Nutmeg MS) Morgen ("morning" in German) is an outstanding black/tan piebald girl who is pictured at 6 months of age. She's a fabulous mover with a wonderful temperament and we're excited about starting to show her. She has gone on co-ownership to breeder/judges Mark McMillan and Guy Jeavons, Grandgables, in Canada where she has successfully started her Canadian show career and has a new litter of 6. |
Duchwood's
Magic Crystal MS
(Ch. Duchwood's Red Alert MS x DCh. Kinder's Magic Mirror MS) Crystal is really changing and improving as she gets older. Lovely clear red, fabulous shoulder assembly, perfect topline, nice rear angles, head cute with ears a little too low, ribbing and keel a little short, very leggy but chest is already dropping down with age. She's a great mom and has produced an outstanding son, Byron, from her first litter. |
|
Duchwood's
Red Flannel Dress MS (ch. pt.)
(Ch. Duchwood's Phoenix MS x Duchwood's Stepping Stone MS) Flanna (pronounced "flah - nah") has a great shoulder assembly, good topline, OK head, nice rear angles, decent length of ribbing and keel, and is a wonderful mover. She has started her show career. Flanna weighs 8.8 lb. |
|
Duchwood's
One Crowded Hour MS
(Duchwood's Basil MS x Duchwood's Panda MS) Glory is a small, muscular, compact girl with a lovely shoulder assembly and nice rear angles. Her eyes are a little large and she holds her ears in a strange manner although they are set on her head correctly. She has excellent length of ribbing and keel but a little too much tuck up in her flank. Her name comes from my favorite Alexander Pope quotation: "One crowded hour of glorious life is worth an age without a name". Glory has not had a litter yet. |
|
Duchwood's
Little Robin MS (ch. pts.)
(Ch. Dynadaux Aint Jus Whistlin Dixie MS x Duchwood's Little Pixie MS) Robin has a fabulous shoulder assembly, a good topline, nice rear angles, and good ribbing and keel length. She could have more bone and better feet, and her muzzle and ears are a little short. She tends to trot with her butt up in the air, so it is doubtful if she can finish her championship. However, she is a free-whelper with 5 pups in her first litter (1 show prospect), so hopefully she will turn out to be a producer of show dogs for us. She is a piebald carrier. |
|
Duchwood's
Mandatory Jazz MS
(Ch. Kinder's Dashing Gentleman MS x DCh. Duchwood's All That Jazz MS) Mandy has a wonderful shoulder assembly, a good topline, so-so rear angles, and a pretty head. She has short ribbing and keel and is a little hocky; one hind leg bowed at 8 months of age. She looks like her mom in many ways, and is muscular and athletic, and will hopefully carry on her mom's legacy as a producer of show dogs. If she passes on her bowed leg, she will be spayed and placed as a pet. Mandy does not carry the piebald gene. |
|
Duchwood's
May In Milan MS (ch. pts.)
(Ch. Duchwood's Red Alert MS x Ch. Applehil Count Your Blessings) Maylee is the result of our first "breed-down" cross - a miniature male bred to a small standard female to produce miniatures with that "standard" look. She weighs 12.75 lb. but is just gorgeous, with lovely front and rear angles and a perfect topline. She carries the piebald gene recessively and should produce miniature pups when bred to small studs. She is on her way to her championship. |
|
Duchwood's
Lady Ellen MS
(Can. Ch. Pawprints Grandgables Edition MS x DCh. Duchwood's All That Jazz MS) Ellie is a small girl with good bone, nice shoulder layback, good topline and gorgeous head. Rear angles are OK but she is a little hocky. Ribbing length is OK but her keel is a little short. We will hang onto her as a show prospect as she is a nice mover with a lovely mahogany color. Ellie weighs 8.5 lb. at 8 months of age. |
|
Duchwood's
Keynote MS
(Ch. Duchwood's Ynot Another MS x Duchwood's Pixie Princess MS, J.E.) Keyna is a little clone of her mom. Same wonderful angles front and rear, good ribbing and keel length, and good topline; her ears are a little short, eyes a little too round and tail set a little too high. She appears to be a good mover at this age (8 months) and has lovely tight feet although she could have heavier bone. |
|
Duchwood
Fool's Gold MS
(Ch. Duchwood's Red Alert MS x Ch. Grandgables Justa GoGo Bean MS) Goldie is not what she seems, just like fool's gold. She is an e-red which, genetically, is a pure black/tan with the black pigment supressed. Her nose is blackish gray, but her nails are pinkish liver and her eye rims are light. She has no black hairs on her body at all. When bred to a black/tan, all her pups will be black/tan or possibly e-red - she can never produce a true red puppy when bred to a black/tan male. She has lovely front and rear angles, a good topline, OK ribbing and keel length, and a pretty head. The white on her hind toes will fade with age. |
|
Duchwood's
Mighty Sprite MS
(Ch. Duchwood's Cast In Stone MS x Duchwood's Brief Interlude MS) Sprite, 3 oz. at birth, is the sole survivor of her litter, which was born prematurely. She was a tough little nut who was determined to live. She's a tiny but lively little girl with nice front and rear angles and a good topline and she's a lovely mover like her dad. Her head is her weak point with too much stop, and she probably cannot be shown because of it. |
|
Duchwood's
Page IV MS
(Ch. Duchwood's Cast In Stone MS x DCh. Duchwood's Page Two MS) Ivy is a tiny girl with a wonderful front assembly and nice rear angles. Her topline is not level when gaiting so she will not be shown. She should be a good producer like her mom. |
|
Duchwood's Dark Beauty MS
(Ch. Duchwood's Pierce Arrow MS x Duchwood's Rubystone MS) Darcy will mature around 7.5-8 lb.. She has a lovely head; good shoulder layback but her upper arm is a little short; ribbing and keel could be longer but are OK; nice tight feet; very muscular body; good topline; good bite; nice rear angles; lovely mover with reach and drive. She has gone to a show home in Montana on co-ownership. |
|
Duchwood's Western Magic MS
(Ch. Duchwood Sounds of Silence MS x Duchwood's Magic Crystal MS) Missie is quite lovely. She has a good topline (her spots make her topline look a little off, but it's not), good tail set, nice front and rear angles, good bone, and a pretty head. She could use more ribbing and keel length and more forechest. She has gone to a show home in Montana on co-ownership. |
